Eyecatcher Heist:
CHES 25th (THE CLAW OF SUNSETS)
17:00 pm
Zarek and Alley’s intensions before the Heist on the Eyecatcher is to first visit the Book Wyrm’s Treasure to acquire their Scrolls and have a few spells cast directly upon them.
- ‘Water Breathing’ on both Alley and Zarek.
- ‘Darkvision’ on only Alley.
Zarek places most of their valuables, including Magic Items not carried and any currency, into hi ‘Bag of Holding’ to keep safe and dry as they were due to swim to the Eyecatcher.
The Bard casts ‘Aid’ on the Rogue and herself.
Zarek also chooses to cast ‘Disguise Self’ once they had acquired a rowboat and had rowed out into the harbour and he would take on the guise of one of the crew of the ships, as the Magical Illusion that was on all the ship hid their true form of Drow. Alley then suggested the Captain from the Heartbreaker as he too carried a spider that perched on his shoulders.
Alley: “You just need to have Boris, your Spider, look the same.”
But first, before they made their way to the Eyecatcher, they would visit the Sea Maidens Faire and see if they could catch a glimpse of Captain Zardoz Zord, Jarlaxle Baenre or any of the Bregan D’aerthe.
Sea Maidens Faire:
Once at the Sea Maidens Faire, Alley and Zarek found a place from where they could keep a close eye on the pier, between the Heartbreaker and Hellraiser ships, and so hope to see all the comings and goings. The dockside was packed with people as the Parade was being prepared.
17:30 pm
Then the Rogue and Bard notice that there is movement on the pier, the band beings to play and several figures’ head down from the piers end. The Rogue is jostled and is not able to get a clear view of who came off the pier, only that some were hooded and Captain Zardoz Zord was one of those that did.
The Sea Maiden’s Faire participates in the Day of Wonders Parade, culminating in a march to the Shipwrights’ House for the Grand Shipwrights’ Ball, featuring Exotic Performers, Fantastical Floats (like Dragon Balloons, Tarrasque Puppets, Mechanical Goblins, and Themed Gods’ depictions), and even a Diatryma-riding Zardoz Zord leading the way.
All of these floats were in the holds of the ship and Zarek recognised them.
Grand Marshal:
Captain Zardoz Zord leads on a Rainbow-Feathered Diatryma, which is an ancient large, flightless bird native to the Underdark. Captain Zardoz Zord appears as a flamboyant Human Ships Captain, often in little more than a Leather Fancy Hat, Leather Speedo, and Leather Boots
Performers:
Bards, City Watch, jugglers, acrobats, and bizarre acts like “Bordo the Human Boulder” shot from a catapult.
Floats & Creatures:
Papier-mâché Beholders, Mechanical Punching Goblins, Exotic Beasts, and Dragon Balloons.
The Siren of the Sea:
A performer in a fake fishtail on an opulent wagon.
To the Shipwrights’ House
Route:
The parade moves from the docks to the House of Inspired Hands (Gond’s Temple) and then through the city streets to the Shipwrights’ House.
Event:
It culminates in the Shipwrights’ Ball, a major social gathering during Fleetswake.
Zarek curses his luck as he is not able to view if any of the Bregan D’aerthe had left the Eyecatcher.
As the Bard and Rogue watch the Parade leave, taking most of the revellers with it, they start to look for a means of transport that they can use to get to their prize, the Eyecatcher. The Parade and general festivities make it hard to find exactly what they were looking for as there was a greater presence around the pier than usual and it takes Zarek a while until he spots a possible mark.
The Rogue, followed by the Bard, are able to slip past a busy looking guard by some rowing boat and they walk up to, and on to, one as if they were always meant to be there.
Zarek: “Always look like you are meant to be where you are, works… most of the time.”
Alley and Zarek make their way out to a point halfway between the pier and the Eyecatcher, the location that they informed Zelifarn, the Bronze Young Dragon, they would meet.
The conditions this evening was perfect D20, a Waxing Crescent Moon and a clam sea.
18:00 pm
Once there they had to only wait a short time before they both spot a large Bronzed shape rise from the depths of the sea and slow show its eyes as it barely disturbed the water.
Zarek greets the Young Bronze Dragon with the reverence he feels it deserves.
Zarek explains their plan to board the Eyecatcher and recover his mother Crystal Ball. The Rogue asks for his help in their escape for the vessel and hopes that Zelifarn would wait near the Eyecatcher.
Zelifarn: “I agree and hope that all goes well in your endeavours.”
Zelifarn silently disappears under the water leaving the Rogue and Bard to cast all the remaining Spells that they have chosen to use for the Eyecatcher Heist.
- ‘Disguise Self’ cast by Zarek to look like Captain Tylan, with the Spider, from the Heartbreaker.
They also retrieve their equipment from the ‘Bag of Holding’. The Heroes of the Filed Ward row south-west and head towards the Eyecatcher.
Once within sight of the Eyecatcher, the Rogue and Bard take to the water. Both Heroes swim slowly, some 30’ feet below the water, towards the ship and don’t realise it but the waters are clear and free from predators. Having discussed their best point of entry, Zarek heads towards the Stern of the ship and climbs up to the Aft Castle, the highest point of the decks.
The Rogue does so ever so very quietly and then he is able to lower his Rope to the Bard in the water below. The Bard too makes no sound and they both crouch down behind some crates and barrels. Alley then casts her Spell ‘Prestidigitation’ on Zarek, then herself, in order to dry the Heroes off.
Then the Rogue and Bard both cast ‘Invisibility’ on themselves.
Zarek then recalls his ‘Spider Familiar’, Boris, from the pocket dimension in which he is kept and ‘Hides’ before he sends Boris off to carry out some surveillance aboard the Eyecatcher.
Zarek concentrates, enters the trance associated with the connection to his ‘Familiar’ and looks through the many eyes of the Spider Boris. The Rogue feels a bit queasy as Boris has many eyes and the stimulus is too much at first.
Alley remains watching the Eyecatcher Sailors and Mate who are all on duty and keeping guard. Alley Notes the following members of the crew and make a mental note to remember the count.
Alley: “Something Iomhar once said, always keep a count so you don’t get any unpleasant surprises.” Alley fondly remembers to herself.
- 3 Sailors and 1 Mate are on the Main Deck at all times.
- 2 Sailors are on the Aft Castle Lower Deck at all times.
- 2 Sailors are on the Aft Castle Upper Deck at all times.
Boris is able to scurry off to the starboard side of the ship, down the stairs to the Aft Deck, down the stairs again onto the Main Deck. Once on the Main Deck Boris moves down the stairs on the Main Deck and it finds itself on the Orlop Deck.
Once Boris reaches the Orlop Deck, Zarek finds that he can see the door to the corridor leading to the Carnie Cabins was closed and the only other way was towards the Bow of the ship and the location of the John on the other ships the Heartbreaker and Hellraiser.
Boris moves over to the John, commanded to do so by the Rogue, and there it can see movement through the gap under the door. Boris moves back towards the corridor and the other set of stairs up to the Main Deck and down to the Upper Hold.
Zarek: “I can’t send Boris down any further without losing control of him, he has reached his limit and I best re-call him.”
The Rogue is about to recall Boris when a Drow Sailor exits the John and heads in his direction. Boris scurries away before he can be seen and crawls under the Cargo Lift Doors. Boris is unable to see what the Drow does but the Rogue is able to them walk over the Spider and towards the Stern of the Eyecatcher.
Zarek is vexed that he can’t send Boris down any further but then realises that he can see some of the Upper Deck from the underside of the Hold Doors.
The Rogue get a wave of nausea from looking through the many eyes of the Spider, but he can see the Fore Section of the Upper Deck.
All sorts of damaged and unfinished attractions are stored here, including the following:
- A number of broken Clockwork Monsters.
- Half-completed or Broken Wagon Covers and Puppets.
- A deflated Balloon of an oversized Flumph (Bizarre creatures with aberrant agendas inhabit the Underdark) that has a small gash in it.
- An undecorated float, topped with an unpainted mechanical Red Dragon made of canvas stretched over a wooden frame.
Boris is called back by Zarek and he disappears back into the pocket dimension.
18:10 pm
Not being able to cast any Spells without becoming visible, Zarek and Alley communicate by whispering to each other.
Zarek: “I think our best bet is for me to shimmy along the side of the Eyecatcher, that way I can look through the Portholes and Windows and take advantage of the ‘Invisibility’.
Alley: “Agreed, I will hide here and attempt to keep watch on the crew. Good Luck.”
Zarek hears the clink of a coin and suspects that Alley has tossed a coin for Tymora’s Luck.
The Rogue finds that the side of the ship is slippery but he is able to manoeuvre all the way to the Portholes at the Stern of the ship.
Directly below where they were, Zarek can see 2 Drow Mates in the Stern Cabin relaxing. The Rogue continues to Climb towards the Stern of the ship and to the 3 Portholes on the Starboard Side.
- The first Porthole is for a Crew Cabin and it is empty.
- The second Porthole is for a Crew Cabin and has a Sailor relaxing.
- The third and final Porthole is for the Pantry.
The Rogue then continues along and reaches the Starboard Window, into the Captain’s Cabin, and spots a Captain sitting by the desk in the Cabin and, right by the Window, another Nimblewright standing and looking towards the centre of the Captain’s Cabin. Zarek has to stop and think about what he wants to do next.
Knowing that he has the time, the Rogue spends time looking into the Eyecatcher Captain’s Cabin to make sure that this was Jarlaxle Baenre and to see if this was the Nimblewright that murdered Iomhar. The Rogue notes the following information:
- The Nimblewright is not the one described by the witnesses in Trollskull Alley. It had a plain face, Eyepatch and wore Pirate gear.
- The Captain in the Cabin looked like a Male Human Luskan.
- The layout of the Captains’ Cabin was exactly the same as the Heartbreaker and Hellraiser.
Zarek is unsure and is unsure that this is actually Jarlaxle Baenre or Captain Zardoz Zord, then he has a brilliant idea and compares the letter from Jarlaxle Baenre that was given to him by the Open Lord. The handwriting does not match and so this is not Jarlaxle Baenre and he saw Captain Zardoz Zord lead the parade.
Zarek: “Who is this?”
The captain in this Cabin sits at the desk and the Rogue can see that he is playing with cards, solitaire perhaps?
The dining table has the remains of a meal left upon it.
The Rogue then decides to send Boris into the Captain’s Cabin to have a look around. Zarek summons Boris and is able position him 10’ feet from his location (not 30’) and he appears under the bed by the Chest at the end of it.
The chest is closed and so that becomes a dead end. Then the Rogue commands the Spider ‘Familiar’ to move towards the Glass-Doored Cabinet, containing Shelves of Books, to see what was in this one. Boris is not so elusive and appears scampering across the floor boards.
Zarek spots Boris and fear that the Nimblewright may have done so too. However, it does not move and just stands watching all.
The Rogue looking through the many eyes of Boris, can see that Inside the Glass-Doored Cabinet, containing Shelves of Books, there are many books relate to games of chance and Novellas.
Zarek: “Why is it that all the captains have Glass-Doored Cabinet, what do they all have in common?”
Confused as to who Jarlaxle Baenre was and what of Captain Zardoz Zord?
Again, the Rogue falls back on his training and leaves the think for later on. Zarek knew that the Dining Cabin’s Windows were below the captains and he decided to check to see who was there.
Zarek: “Always keep a count so you don’t get any unpleasant surprises.”
The Rogue climbs down and looks in through the Dining Cabin Windows. Inside there are 2 Drow Sailors finishing off their meals.
Zarek: “The dinner schedule or changing of guards is another opportunity to synchronise an ingress or egress. I must remember that for the future.”
The Rogue the decides that he should return, but that he should also check the Port side of the Eyecatcher as he did so. Climbing back along the side of the ship, Zarek makes his way back to Alley passing by the Port side Portholes.
- The first Porthole is for the Galley, 1 Busy Cook, Human Male (speaks common to Drow) works a frying pan in the Ships Galley.
- The second Porthole is for a Crew Cabin and has a Drow Sailor relaxing.
- The third and final Porthole is for a Crew Cabin which is empty.
The Rogue continues along the Port side of the ship and climbs up onto the Aft Castle.
As the Rogue passes the mid-ships (D20), the Drow Mate signals to the Drow Sailors and they leave, heading towards the Dining Cabin. At the same time the Sailors from there came out to relieve them, as did 2 Drow Mates that emerged from the Bow of the ship, from the Mates’ Cabin.
18:20 pm
There Zarek attempts to find Alley but she is too well hidden, and ‘Invisible’, to actually see. Alley however, spots the Rogue once he is within the 30’ foot radius of her ‘Magical Dagger’.
The Rogue and Bard lean together and whisper to each other. Zarek recounts what he had seen and that they should head down to the Lower Decks.
Alley: “I think that Tymora has blessed us with an opening let us go now.”
Zarek: “Can you use your Guidance on me Alley.”
Alley: “I cannot as it will cancel my ‘Invisibility’.”
Zarek: “Of course, then follow me, I will lead.”
Alley rolls her eyes Invisibly to herself. Zarek hears the sound of a coin hitting the Deck and deduces that Alley had tossed a coin for Tymora.
The Rogue and Bard are able to wait for an opportune moment and they both slip down, silently, down to the Aft Upper Castle, then to the Main Deck and down the stairs again to the Orlop Deck where they intend to continue down via the Armoury.
The Rogue and Bard encounter no one on the Orlop Deck and continue down to the Stern of the Eyecatcher. Along the corridor, that leads to the Armoury and Brig, Zarek checks to see if the Cabin here are used for the same reason as on the other ships and finds that one has the personal item of someone inside, just like on the Heartbreaker and Hellraiser.
The Rogue and Bard move on from the Carnies’ Cabins and as they approach the Armoury, they hear the sound of snoring coming from the Brig. The Rogue investigate further and as he draws nearer, to the Brig, he can see a Drow Sailor laying on the floor with just a bucket to keep him company.
The Rogue turns to Alley and put a finger to his lips and points in the direction of the Brig. The Rogue then sets to work on picking the lock to the Armoury Door, having already checked for Traps, of which he found now. The Rogue takes his time, is quite and applies oil to the lock to aid in his silent attempt. Success.
The Rogue takes a quick look inside the Armoury, see it to be empty and gestures for the Bard to follow him inside. Alley does so obediently.
The armoury aboard the Eyecatcher is the same layout as on the Heartbreaker but also features a 750-Pound Cast Iron Safe with a Combination Lock.
A Rogue attempt to pick the lock with and is at first unsuccessful as using Thieves’ Tools aids but the true skill is in the ears and fingers. Each attempt takes 1 minute and as Zarek failed, he tries again as Alley remains listening out at the Armoury Door for any unwanted intruders.
The combination turns out to be 15-07-68, on auspicious number indeed. Zarek thinks that he could have used their ‘Chime of Opening’ but remembers that is creates a loud noise when used.
Inside the safe the Rogue finds 3 Lantanese Pistols, 12 Leather Packets of Smokepowder, 3 Leather Pouches containing Twenty Bullets each, and 250 gp in a separate sack.
Zarek: “I think I will take it all.”
Alley: “Even if we cannot use them, they make a great plant.”
Zarek: “What do you mean, in the ground?”
Alley: “No Zarek, leaving them will place suspicion on Bregan D’aerthe not us.”
Zarek: “I know, I can also do this.”
The Rogue takes out a piece of chalk and draws the symbol of the Xanathar:
- The emblem represents a central, large eye surrounded by 10 smaller eyes (the spokes).
Alley and Zarek both giggle. The Rogue closes and locks the safe. Zarek then thinks it best to lock the door behind them and spends far too long in unsuccessfully doing so.
He makes enough noise for the Drow Sailor, in the Brig, to wake up and start to talk and call out.
Zarek: “He must think it is time for his food. I will stop and have leave it unlocked so as not to alert the rest of crew. Curses”
Zarek heads for the stairs in the corner of the Armoury that leads down to the Upper Hold of the Eyecatcher. Alley waits for Zarek to wave her on once he had reached the Deck below.
Once at the Upper Holds Deck, the Rogue could see the remainder of the Deck that he first saw through the eyes of Boris.
The Aft section of the Upper Hold of the Eyecatcher is full of Carnival and Parade equipment.
All sorts of damaged and unfinished attractions are stored here, including the following:
- A number of Broken Clockwork Monsters.
- Half-completed or Broken Wagon Covers and Puppets.
- A deflated balloon of an oversized Flumph that has a small gash in it.
- An Undecorated Float, topped with an unpainted mechanical Gold Dragon made of canvas stretched over a wooden frame.
- 4 Large Spiders painted in bright colours.
The Rouge elects not to search the Upper Hold and waves at the Bard to join him as he continues down the adjacent stirs leading to the Lower Hold.
Ignoring the door directly by the stairs, the Rogue attempted to remember and calculate the location of the way into the Scarlet Marpenoth and believes that it is in the room on the Port side.
The Rogue and Bard quietly make their way to the door on the Port side, also Ignoring the door opposite it, and Zarek begins his work of first looking for traps on the lock and door. The Rogue finds none but forgets that Magic may also be used as a trap of sorts.
The Rogue begins to pick the lock to the door, using oil once again and his Thieves Tools. However, it’s not until the Rogue attempts to test the door handle that the Spell is activated.
Door: “By Lolth’s teeth, have you no manners?”
Zarek didn’t even have to think as to who Lolth was. Known as the Queen of Spiders as well as the Queen of the Demonweb Pits and she is the most influential Goddess of the Drow.
The sound is loud enough to be heard by crew that were aboard the Eyecatcher.
Alley deactivates her ‘Invisibility’ Spell and cast ‘Detect Magic’ from her ‘Wand of Magic Detection’ fearing that from here on in things will get a lot more complicated.
Alley: “On the door I sense Magic, ‘Illusion’ Magic in fact.”
Zarek: “It must be Magic Mouth, nothing to fear right now. Is there anything else?”
Alley: “No, you are clear for now.”
The Rogue is unsuccessful in opening the door and needs to try a second time. Once open the Rogue moves into the Cabin and looks about.
The room contains the following features:
- The Sweet Smell of Lavender permeates the cabin.
- A Nimblewright stands in a small alcove next to a Chess Table. An empty wine bottle on the table is labelled “One-Eyed Jax” in Common.
- A bed is covered by a soft blue blanket and matching pillows. Next to the bed is a Wooden Chest with clawed feet.
In addition, a Small Desk holds a Chess Set and a variety of Papers.
Zarek sees not present threat, as the Nimblewright remains still standing in the corner, and gestures for Alley to join him.
Alley moves inside the Cabin and sees the Nimblewright and curses the Rogue as she is now visible.
Zarek: “Do not worry it is inactive.”
Alley is very uneasy about it as the Nimblewright appears to be looking directly at them and its eyes follows her around the room.
Zarek looks about the Cabin, which could belong to Captain Zardoz Zord or Jarlaxle Baenre. Alley uses her ‘Detect Magic’ to look for traps or the way into the Scarlet Marpenoth.
The Rogue can see the Nimblewright has not facial features, an eye patch and the garb of a Pirate. He then turns his attention to the papers on the desk and, in the quick glance that he takes, concludes that it is a collection of various scripts, materials and age. Some of the scrolls looking decades old by the papers and inks used.
Zarek: “This is a collection of works for research if I’m not mistaken. Here look, Asmodeus and Cult appears to be on several of the scrolls and none of the handwriting appears the same.”
Alley then senses the Magical area on the Eyecatcher floor and points it out to the Rogue. At first, he can see nothing except for the floor boards, but on closer inspection the Rogue finds the outline of a Secret Trap Door.
Alley: “Abjuration Magic, I think it is Magically Locked with an ‘Arcane Lock’ Spell.”
Zarek: “I can use the Chime but that will alert the whole ship.”
The Rogue notes that the Chess Set is made of Pure Jade and looks extremely expensive, but choses to look through the papers found on the table as he feels he has missed something.
Taking up valuable time after the ‘Magic Mouth’, the Rogue examines the papers closer and discovers:
- Ledger of Nimblewright Sales
- A Report on the Cultists of Asmodeus
- Jarlaxle’s Report on the Grand Game
The Rogue realises the handwriting in the Ledger of Nimblewright Sales and the Report on the Grand Game are the same as the letter from Jarlaxle to the Open Lord, Laeral Silverhand.
Zarek: “This is the Cabin of Jarlaxle Baenre and the way down into the Scarlet Marpenoth.” Zarek thinks to himself.
The Rogue realises that they do not have much time and if the ‘Magic Mouth’ was heard they will be down here soon.
Zarek looks through the Ledger of Nimblewright Sales to see if the Nimblewright Assassin was listed as being sold and finds the following names, some of which seem very worrying if Jarlaxle Baenre is working for, or the lead of, the Luskan Nation, also known as the City of Sails:
Eyecatcher: Owners Of the Nimblewrights:
Jarlaxle has sold 9 Nimblewrights. His asking price is just 25,000 Gold Dragons – which is a lot of money, but shockingly cheap as far as constructs go. That’s because he’s selling them at loss.
His interest must not be in making a profit from selling mechanical constructs and there must be another reason.
TEMPLE OF GOND: The House of the Inspired. The Nimblewright they’ve named Nim has, much to their surprise, proven remarkably adept at interacting with and even creating their mechanical marvels.
- Appearance: Its “hair” consists of multi-layered, overlapping metal feathers.
BOWGENTRA SUMMERTAEN: Lady Master of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors, a Guild for Wizards and Sorcerers in Waterdeep. Her Nimblewright is serving as a mayordomo-cum-curiosity piece at the Order’s Guildhouse.
LORD LABDAR ADARBRENT: Head of A Noble Waterdhavian Family who owns the fourth-largest shipping fleet in the city and has strong ties with the Master Mariners’ Guild. His Nimblewright stands as a guard in his front hall, replacing the human guard who once stood there.
- Appearance: Its eyes are black onyx and its face is fixed in a permanent, rictused scowl. It wears the tabard of House Adarbrent.
LORD CORIN DEZLENTYR: The Wizened, Half-Elven Head of the Dezlentyr family. They first rose to prominence in the 13th century as caravan masters, traders, and explorers. They own a villa in the Sea Ward Feather Street). The Nimblewright was actually purchased by his headstrong, swashbuckling daughter, Hermione Dezlentyr.
- Appearance: Its right eye is a green gemstone which glows faintly. Hermione has dressed it in traditional Swashbuckling gear – the hate, the doublet, and so forth.
HOUSE OF WONDER: (TEMPLE OF MYSTRA) The servants of Mystra obtained the Nimblewright in the hope of unravelling the secrets of its construction.
- Appearance: Feminine in appearance, dressed in a simple white robe. Silver “hair” has been carved to resemble a bob cut.
MOTHER TAMRA’S HOUSE OF GRACES: A finishing school catering to young ladies of ambitious families located on Mendever Street in the Sea Ward. Their Nimblewright is serving as a house cleaner.
- Appearance: Eight halos of different precious metals circle the Nimblewrights head at strange, intersecting angles.
CITY ARMOURY: City Armoury Located in the Sea Ward (North Wall in the Sea Ward), the members of the Armoury Guard have a Nimblewright who serves as a fencing partner. They appropriated the funds to purchase the Nimblewright without really having proper authorisation.
- Appearance: Simple, generic facial features, but this Nimblewright has additional plates of gleaming metal positioned around its body to resemble a stylised breastplate and greaves.
THE GRALHUNDS: The guilty party. A noble house of Waterdeep since the Year of the Broken Blade, 1260 DR. Their primary business interests included contracting Hireswords and manufacturing weapons.
- Appearance: A construct made of both burnished copper and pale wood. Wears a red robe and foppish red hat with a feather. Also has a long, stylised Van Dyke beard.
MIRT: (Referred to as “The Old Wolf”) He is known for being incredibly cunning, experienced, and not easily deceived.
Relic of the Past: He is deceived. A good-hearted old adventurer who serves as a Masked Lord of Waterdeep and a key ally to the Harpers and Laeral Silverhand.
- Appearance: This particular Nimblewright is constructed from thin, curved plates of highly polished brass and dark, rich mahogany. Its joints are intricate, constantly moving with a soft, precise whirring sound. Unlike the standard models, it has been subtly modified to resemble a slightly portly gentleman, mirroring its owner’s build, though its movements remain incredibly graceful and quick.
Zarek: “I have not heard of these Nobel’s called Gralhunds, have you Alley?”
Alley: “No that name sounds familiar, but not enough for me to know of them. But we have them Zarek, we have the ones that had Iomhar.”
Zarek says nothing as he hears the coin of fate spinning.
Zarek; “What shall we do? Continue down or back outside. I think Tymora shall guide us.
Zarek tosses a coin and the world moves down another path as the Rogue opens the door and he and the Bard leave Jarlaxle’s Cabin unlocked.
The Rogue, ‘Invisible’, heads to the bow and finds a different layout than on the other ships. Alley, Visible, follows the Rogue.
The area looks like a specially designed training area and the Rogue suspects that Jarlaxle must trains here regularly. The space contains the following features:
- Ropes are strung throughout the area like Webs.
- 4 Rapiers hang from a wooden rack attached to the mast.
- 8 beat-up Mannequins made of wood, straw, and canvas stand about the room. Each holds a wooden sword and a wooden shield.
- A Dartboard mounted on one wall has a ‘Shiny Dagger’ sticking into it.
Beyond the Training Area at the Bow of the Eyecatcher, Zarek also sees that there is a further Cabin with a door. The door to this room is closed with an exterior hook latch.
Zarek: “That must mean the room behind us belongs to Captain Zardoz Zord.” Zarek thinks to himself.
Before our Heroes can look, or move, any further they hear the sound of footstep coming down the stairs of the Eyecatcher from behind them.
