Chapter Fourty Two – The Crypt Of The Pit Fiend
Last time we left our relentless Heroes within a Crypt with a Pit Fiend as Galan and Mirafir were lifting the Sarcophagus lid. Without warning, except that from the hidden creature heard by Sir Ly, a Demon appears out from within.
The Pit Fiend then conjures a flame, ‘Produce Flame’, within the palm of his bulky hand. The resulting ball of Magical Fire is thrown at the young Ranger, Galan Tara.
Our well-ordered Heroes act to protect their comrades from the flames from the Pit Fiend and defeat their foe. Frimly moves in front of the Crypt and uses his ‘Ring of Ram’ on the Pit Fiend. The conjured Magical Ram head shaped force causes significant damage to the Pit Fiend and inflicts further injury as the Demon is thrown backwards. As the Pit Fiend is still emerging from the Sarcophagus, his lower torso is held fast, as his head is flung backwards making a loud cracking noise.
Mirafir and Galan hastily exit the Crypt as Sigune, Thora and Sir Ly attempt to replace those fleeing inorder to engage with the Pit Fiend. There is not enough room and so Sir Ly moves to guard the North approach, while Frimly listens out for danger. The Thief is reassured to hear no other noise and selflessly aids Galan in extinguishing his backpack and boots set alight by the flames expled by the Pit Fiend.
Sir Ly remembering his equipment list uses one of the charges from his ‘Ring of Shooting Stars’ and casts ‘Faerie fire’ into the Demon’s Crypt. The Pit Fiend, and everything within that is alive, was now glowing due to the effect of the Spell.
Mirafir, now standing behind Thora and Sigune, points his hand towards the Pit Fiend and releases a burst of ‘Magic Missiles’ at the Demon. All of the Wizards missiles hit their mark weakening the Pit Fiend.
Galan and Frimly, having extinguished the flames on the Rangers equipment, separate. Galan deftly moves to gain position on the Pit Fiend, looking above the engaged Thora while Frimly returns to his listening for any possible danger.
Pit Fiends are a greater baatezu. The baatezu are the primary inhabitants of the Nine Hells. They are a strong, evil tempered race held together by an equally strong organization. The baatezu live in a rigid caste system where authority is derived from power and station.
The baatezu wish to fulfill their ancient quest to destroy the tanar’ri, their blood enemies. The baatezu also know that by infiltrating humans and entering their world they will gain power over the tanar’ri. Toward this end they constantly strive to dominate the Prime Material plane and its natives.
The most terrible baatezu of the Nine Hells, pit fiends appear to be giant, winged humanoids, very much like gargoyles in appearance, with huge wings that wrap around their bodies for defense. Pit fiend’s fangs are large and drip with a vile, green liquid. Their bodies are red and scaly, often emitting flames when they are angered or excited. In the rare situations they choose to communicate, they use telepathy.
The Demon, or Pit Fiend as our two book-shy Paladins will remember eventually, having only just been released from his imprisonment along with Frimly’s fierce attack with his ‘Ring of the Ram’; was disorientated and called out for help. The words uttered by the Pit Fiend are alien and guttural, our dauntless Heroes have no notion as to what the Demon is saying or even to whom he calls. Then, from the NORTH, a tear in this Realm is opened up, the stench of fire, brimstone and death pours forth.
Sir Ly: “Comrades, a ‘Gate’ has opened to the NORTH and all I can see if black smoke and I smell death.”
Sir Ly: “Wait I can hear…… Enemies… Enemies are assailing us from the NORTH.”
Sigune and Thora must now focus on their foe, Mirafir turns hoping he can in some way help Sir Ly while Frimly edges his way to the Pit Fiend’s Crypt as he knows the Warriors have everything in hand.
Galan knows that he needs to force his way past the others in order to aid Sir Ly. As he had already aimed at the Pit Fiend, Galan now attempts to fire rapidly and move on towards the Paladin. However, as Galan release the string of his bow, he takes his eye off his intended target and at the very moment Thora attacks the Pit Fiend with her ‘Dragon Headed Mace’. The result of this being a very angry Female, Dwarf, Fighter that will be have a quiet word with a certain Ranger, very soon.
The Pit Fiend aims the Magical Ball of Flame, held in the palm of his generous hand, at the Dwarf and at such a short distance, the Demon chuckles as he muses to himself that he’s still got it, the Demon does not miss. Thora takes fire damage as her Cloak and Backpack catch on fire.
Thora and Sigune then slay the Pit Fiend, Thora is bemused that it was easier than she was expecting. Sigune had finally met a being that she has sworn to rid the world of. Thora must now has to turn her attention to her burning equipment.
Back with our Lone Paladin, we find that from the ‘Gate’ creatures ooze out of the smoke and Sir Ly finally has a chance to see what he must now fight. Again the Paladin is unable, or too preoccupied, to remember what these creatures may be.
“Sir Ly and Sigune, fast were their blades, yet slow was there booklore.”
Lemures: A lemure is a hideous creature, appearing as nothing more than a man-sized blob of molten stinking flesh with a permanent expression of anguish. It oozed across the ground as it moved. They stand about 5′ feet tall and weighed about 100 pounds. They lacked a true name.
Sir Ly: “Shambling sacks of flesh, human in shape are pouring forth from the gate, I can see them now.”
Sir Ly: “4, 5 no 6… there are 6 of the creatures, I can hold them all off. By Saint Cuthbert you shall all die.”
Sir Ly is targeted, as the Lemures slowly ooze toward the Paladin. These vile creatures now reach him and before he can be aided by the other Warriors. The creatures are indeed fouls smelling and it take every ounce of Constitution that Sir Ly had not to expel his breakfast onto the floor. The 2 Lemures that attack the our lone Paladin both attempt to strike with their clawed hand but Sir Ly is too well protected and nimble of foot to be struck as Sir Ly, now more disciplined then before, parries. Sir Ly is eventually joined by Galan, the Elven Ranger and Sigune, the Beautiful Female Paladin, allowing him to join into the ‘Song of Swords’.
Sir Ly: “Ones Holy deputies must always be carried out with true conviction…..Kill EVERYTHING…..”
Galan, Sigune and Sir Ly dispatch one each while Thora manages with another as she reaches the party fashionably late. The second wave of Lemures then strike at our heroes but with no success, their slow, lumbering attacks are easy to avoid and they offer very little in the way of any noticeable defensive. However, if the Paladins had managed to access any of the memories they had of their lesson, they may have remembered that these creature are but fodder and when they attack they do so as a horde; attack in their hundreds. Barovia may also dampen the forces of Evil from other dimensions too?
In the meantime, our curious Thief, such phrases often precede Frimly don’t you think, has taken it upon himself to secure the vacated Crypt, making sure there are no more Demons, or other such minor beings, for him to vanquish in single combat. If he then happens to stumble on a trinket, or small token, he would thank Saint Cuthbert and make sure that it was catalogued, honestly appraised and shared with his partners.
Frimly, brave Frimly, stares into the Demons Sarcophagus expecting the worse, but betting on the best. The smell of brimstone and the smoke is still present within the Crypt, making it hard for the Thief to see clearly, even with his ‘Lens of Ultravision’. The Demons Sarcophagus is just that, an empty Demons Sarcophagus. Then out of the corner of the Thief’s eye, a glow catches his attention. Whatever Sir Ly was talking to inside the Demon’s Crypt initially has been affected by the ‘Faerie Fire’ Spell, Frimly concludes, and it’s trying to get out of the Crypt.
Frimly: “It must still think it’s Invisible as none of the brawlers notice the creature.”
The last of the Lemures are dealt with, whist at the same moment Thora notices that the Lemure wound, caused by Galan’s Arrow, was slowly sealing shut.
Thora: “Beware, this Demon Spawn slain by Galan is regenerating.”
Sigune: “Nein, das gilt nicht für mich. Die Wunden sind noch offen.”
Sigune: “Sorry, I said No, it is not true for mine. Its wounds are still open.
Mirafir: “Elementary, only those dead, and possibly those not being engaged, are unable to regenerate.”
The last of the Lemures are destroyed and their flesh pools into small mountains of putrid folds of skin.
Frimly, having become very attached to his new toy, elects to employ his ‘Ring of the Ram’ on the fleeing creature. One blast is all that’s needed as the gallant Thief once again saves the day. Who know what mischief it could have caused on the poor LOW-INTs outside?
Frimly: “Now I do truly deserve whatever I find as my spoils of war, even though there was nothing to find.”
Frimly’s Conscience: “You do know you’re talking to me right?”
Frimly: “Sorry, habit I’m afraid.”
Outside our less-heroic members, pause to asses there circumstances.
Thora: “What was that noise, Frimly are you still with us?”
Frimly: “Yes Mum, I’m fine, it was like that when I came in.”
Frimly rolls his eyes and steps out of the Demons Crypt, Just as Galan peers inside wondering what the Thief was really doing. Frimly gives the dead creature a kick on his way out. Our Thief believes the creature may be an Imp, but the others are more intent on vanquishing all foes to pay attention to him.
Frimly: “Oh well, their loss I guess.”
Mirafir: “I can hear a faint scrabbling noise coming from WEST, the area where the Crypt containing the Ghast and lone Skeleton.”
ALL: “Well done Mirafir, thine ears are that of a Delimbiyr Vale Owl.”
Frimly: “And they wonder why.”
Thora takes one of the ‘Potions of Healing’ found on the Vistani bodies.
Thora: “We should search the last 2 Vistani; I am guessing they’ll also have a wee ‘Potion of Heal’ each about their person.”
Galan: “Let us not stray from the task at hand, lest we be assailed by other yet unearth creatures.
Our heroes, once again, are confident that they have no more to fear in the Catacombs of Castle Ravenloft and they march off, intent of cleansing the place of evil malice, rescue the fair Gertruda and plunder any unclaimed wealth which they all intend to distribute to the poor ravished villagers of Barovia.
In no particular order our mighty adventurers head towards the unexplored Crypts.
CRYPT 33:
Sir Klutz Tripalotsky: He fell on his own sword
In the centre of this Crypt, atop a marble slab, human bones lie amid the empty shell of a suit of rusty plate armour. Plunged through the armour’s breastplate is a longsword.
Sir Ly concentrates and begins his chanting, with Shield and hand outstretched, penetrating the darkness within and searching for any and all Evil.
Sir Ly: “This one is untainted.”
Galan: “Let us assure ourselves that we have no other of Strahd’s Minions lurking in the Crypt before we enter anymore of them.”
Mirafir: “I agree. Then I can cast my ‘Detect Magic’ Spell which will illuminate unto me any Magic, both foul and fair.”
Frimly: “Then guess who they’ll send in to do the real work?”
The dispensable Thief muttered.
Sigune: “Did you say something Frimly?”
Frimly: “No sweetheart, nothing at all.”
Our eager Heroes turn their attention to the nearest Crypt.
CRYPT 28:
The Slab is broken and cannot be read
A Skeleton draped in white linen lies atop a marble slab in the centre of the Crypt, clutching a ‘Bell’ to its sunken chest. Fitted over its skull is a tall chef’s hat.
Our fervent Heroes now move on, in a close formation and searching all around them for any danger.
Mirafir: “I hear that scrabbling noise again my friends and it is definitely emanating from yonder Crypt.”
Frimly: “Yonder, who fucking says yonder?”
Sigune: “I’m sorry, I’m sure I heard you say something this time Frimly.”
Frimly: “No treacle must be the echo.”
Sigune looks about and slowly nods to herself as the rest of the party head off toward the Ghast Crypt, Sir Ly lighting as many ensconced torches as he can on the way.
CRYPT 36:
Sir Jarnwald the Trickster: The joke was on him
Frimly is pointed too and he approaches the first of the dark, empty Crypts.
A charnel stench fills this empty Crypt.
This was the Crypt which held a Skeleton, which attacked and then retreated back into the Crypt. It then dispersed according to Thora and Galan, who were battling the Skeleton hordes here.
Frimly: “I cannot see anything inside but that smell is still here. Wait a second.”
Frimly takes out a flask of Holy Water and aims to drop it flush with the wall facing the entrance to the Crypt. Mirafir take out a Flask of Oil from, a small strip of cloth his backpack and beings to construct an incendiary device.
Frimly drops his Flask of Holy Water down into the Crypt. Our dexterous Thief does not hear any noise of breaking glass. Mirafir then heaves his Flask of Lit Oil down passed the illusion with the same result, no sound is heard from below.
After a short discussion and a few sketches by Galan, the whole party is able to see past the illusion of the false floor. As our plucky Thief peers down into, the now obvious and illuminated 30’ foot pit, he can perceive what is hiding below. The Thief informs the others that they have 3 Ghouls, 1 Skeleton and finally the Ghast to contend with.
Frimly: “This should be no problem for the Warriors amounts us.”
Galan and Sigune begin to rain down arrows on their adversaries below; just as they both witness 2 of the Ghouls standing up along the wall whist the other begins to clamber up them.
Galan: “This is what the scrabbling noise was that the Wizard heard.”
Galan, the mighty Archer, fells his target while Signe hit her target too. The Ghast stands back, protected by the Skeleton which stands in front of it. The Ghouls are dispatched but the Ghast and Skeleton proves to be harder than expected to conquer.
Galan: “The Ghouls were attempting to grab onto hand holds in the wall face.”
These are now clearly seen by the Ranger. Now that the Archers had killed the reaming Ghouls, the Ghast used their dead coupes as cover, squirming underneath. The mark was now that much harder to hit, whilst our rapid Ranger was running out of ‘Magical Arrows’.
Mirafir: “Stand aside cousin, this putrid creature cannot hide from my Magic.”
Frimly: “That’s it; we couldn’t have made it any easier for you.”
Sigune: “I… Oh never mind.”
The Ghast and Skeleton having been finally dispatched allows Frimly, once again, to be tasked with securing the Crypt pit bottom. Frimly, using his ‘Slipper of Spider Climbing’, makes his way to the real floor of the Crypt and begins to search for anything of value.
After much rummaging Frimly realises that the Wizard hadn’t cast ‘Detect Magic’ and the others had sent him down without checking for any dangers first.
Frimly holds up his hand as the others look down.
Frimly: “All I’ve found is this Signet Ring with a stylised letter J, not worth much.”
Now our adventurous Heroes can begin serious task of treasure hunting. No more monsters, except for the Brown Mold, possibly Vampires, and any other creature that regenerates to deal with though.
Our dogged Heroes move NORTH. The slab door to this Crypt is smashed on the floor.
CRYPT 30:
Prefect Ciril Romulich (Beloved of King Barov and Queen Ravenovia): High Priest of the Most Holy Order
A Marble slab in the centre of the Crypt displays a Skeleton draped in Red Vestments, a Golden Holy Symbol clutched in one bony hand. The domed ceiling 15’ feet above are painted to look like a canopy of trees with bright autumn leaves. A narrow stone ledge encircles the Crypt 10’ feet above the floor. Perched on it are dozens of stone ravens, their eyes fixed on the marble slab. The carved ravens appear ominous yet are harmless.
The prefect’s Gold Holy Symbol is festooned with tiny gemstones. The Adventures, now familiar with Barovian religion, recognize the symbol as that of the Morning Lord.
Sigune concentrates and begins her chanting, with Shield and hand outstretched, penetrating the darkness within and searching for any and all Evil.
Sigune: “There is nothing of Evil to be sensed within.”
Frimly steps within the Crypt and retrieves the Moon shaped ‘Holy Symbol’, spending several moments admiring the workmanship of the beautiful piece.
Next, our Plundering Heroes continue NORTH. The slab door to this Crypt is smashed on the floor.
CRYPT 25:
Stefan Gregorovich: First Counsellor to King Barov von Zarovich
A Skeleton draped in rags lies atop a Marble slab in the centre of the Crypt. Most of the bones appear dusty and neglected, but the well-polished Skull is no longer in its place, as it is currently in the possession of Mirafir the Wizard.
Sir Ly concentrates and begins his chanting, with Shield and hand outstretched, penetrating the darkness within and searching for any and all Evil.
Sir Ly: “No Evil minions within.”
EASTWARDS next, is the direction agreed to be taken by our wandering Heroes.
The slab door to this Crypt is lying, unbroken, on the floor.
CRYPT 26:
Intree Sik-Valoo: He spurned wealth for the knowledge he could take to heaven
A Skeleton draped in rags lies atop a Marble slab in the centre of the Crypt. Most of the bones appear dusty and neglected, but the skull is well polished.
Sir Ly: “This Crypt appears to be the same as the one we have just left behind.”
Mirafir: “I think it is time I use my powerful ‘Detect Magic’ Spell so we can discern if anything within these Crypt will be of benefit or a danger to me.”
Galan: “I agree, we can check the Crypt within the time allotted to us by the Spell and mark our prizes.”
Frimly: “Now he wants to cast his spell, not when I went into the Crypt, not now someone has the Moon Holy Symbol on their person and not knowing if it is Magical.”
Frimly: “Also, OUR PRIZE, when was it that the Forest Boy became so interested in prizes?”
Sigune: “Gesundheit Frimly.”
Mirafir casts his ‘Detect Magic’ Spell as the reaming party members decide on the best path to cover as many un-explored Crypts as possible. First, the Wizard concentrates within CRYPT 26 and the ‘Polished Skull’, Intree Sik-Valoo’s skull radiates a faint aura of Necromancy Magic.
Galan: “Use your Spell on the other Skull which you have in your possession Wizard.”
Mirafir produces the Polished Skull from his backpack and casts his vision over it. There are no Magic emanations coming from Stefan Gregorovich’s Polished Skull.
Mirafir: “Strange, not the result I was expecting to see.”
Our anxious Heroes now have to move quickly and search swiftly as the ‘Detect Magic’ last only so long. SOUTH and EAST they move.
The slab door to this Crypt is lying, unbroken, on the floor. It is overturned to reveal the following inscription.
CRYPT 31:
We knew him only by his wealth
This Crypt is empty. Its walls are painted to depict mountains of Gold coins.
Our in fearless Heroes had in fact view this Crypt previously but now with the Magical site of Mirafir can discern the threat. The entire floor is radiating a faint Illusion/Phantasm Magic.
Frimly takes out a silver coin from the communal fund, changes his mind and swaps it for a Copper piece, and proceeds to roll it into the Crypt.
Frimly: “There did you see, it reached the front of the Crypt and dropped below.”
Sir Ly & Sigune: “No it didn’t, it vanished.”
Mirafir: “I too saw the Copper coin drop down.”
ALL: “Yes I too did see.”
Frimly: “Saint Cuthbert, give me strength.”
Frimly, once again, using his ‘Slipper of Spider Climbing’, makes his way down, below the illusionary floor and to the real floor of the Crypt.
As our gallant Thief descends he can make out a Human Skeleton, presumably the remains of a dead adventurer, wrapped in bits of ‘Studded Leather Armour’ lies amid the spikes at the bottom of the pit. A ‘Shattered Lantern’ and a ‘Rusty Crowbar’ lie nearby. Tied to the corpse’s Leather belt is a ‘50’ foot coil of Silk Rope’, a ‘Dagger’ in a ‘Worn Scabbard’, a ‘Pouch’ containing 25pp and a ‘Stoppered Wooden Tube’.
Below our audacious Thief finds nothing of personal interest to him but decides to recover all he thinks of worth.
Our diligent Heroes now move onto a sealed Crypt to investigate. Thora and Sir Ly put away their respective weapons and heave the stone slab out. Using the stone slab as protection from a possible attack, from within the Crypt, they slowly edge back, to the side of the Crypt where they lean it against the side of the Crypt.
CRYPT 37:
Gralmore Nimblenobs – Wizard Ordinaire
Lying on a marble slab in the centre of this Crypt is the corpse of a man with a long white beard. His skin clings tightly to his skull and bones, and he wears dusty Red robes. Clutched to his chest it holds a ‘Wooden Stave’ that has a Brass Knob on one end and a Marble Knob on the other.
Mirafir concentrates with his ‘Detect Magic’ and searches within the Crypt.
Mirafir: “The Wooden Stave radiates no Magic, yet I can see a faint glow on the Marble Slab that tops the Sarcophagus. Evocation is the Realm use to create this emanation”
Sigune concentrates and begins her chanting, with Shield and hand outstretched, penetrating the darkness within and searching for any and all Evil. She senses nothing within the Crypt.
Our industrious Heroes now move onto another sealed Crypt to investigate. Thora and Sir Ly put away their respective weapons and heave the stone slab out. Using the stone slab as protection from a possible attack, from within the Crypt, they slowly edge back, to the side of the Crypt where they lean it against the side of the Crypt.
CRYPT 38:
General Kroval “Mad Dog” Grislek (Master of the Hunt): A leader of hounds and men
Bits of incinerated bone lie strewn atop a Marble slab in the centre of the Crypt. Lying amid the bones are fragments of a ‘Shattered Spear with a Silvered Head’. The walls and domed ceiling of the Crypt are covered with scorched murals that depict legions of infantry and cavalry clashing on battlefields.
Mirafir focusses with his ‘Detect Magic’ and searches within the Crypt and specifically the broken Spear.
Mirafir: “Nothing within radiates any form of Magic.”
Frimly is sent into the Crypt to retrieve the ‘Silver Tipped Spear’ which is placed within Galan’s ‘Bag of Holding’.
Our busy Heroes move onto another Crypt to investigate which stands in the SOUTH-WESTERN corner of the Catacombs. The Crypt door is not sealed and previously housed Strahd Skeletons. The slab is leaning against the wall and when the adventures turn it around they can read the epitaph.
CRYPT 40:
Tatsaul Eris – Last of the Line
A Skeleton draped in rags lies atop a Marble slab in the centre of the Crypt. Mounted on the NORTH, EAST, and SOUTH walls are three unlit torches in iron brackets.
Frimly enters the Crypt alone, as he has done on some many occasions, and as he does so the 3 torches burst into flame. Frimly moves back and out of the Crypt whilst the touches remain alight. Frimly re-enters the Crypt and takes a closer look at the Skeleton on the Marble Slab.
Frimly: “I’m no healer but these bones aren’t real, they look like plaster to me.”
Our industrious Heroes turn their attention to the nearby Crypt.
The Crypt door is sealed and Thora and Sir Ly put away their respective weapons and heave the stone slab out. Using the stone slab as protection from a possible attack, from within the Crypt, they slowly edge back, to the side of the Crypt where they lean it against the side of the Crypt.
CRYPT 39:
Beucephalus, the Wonder Horse: May the flowers grow ever brighter where he treds.
The door to this Crypt is larger than all the others, 6’ feet wide by 8’ feet tall.
Inside the Crypt is bare and only a faint odour of brimstone can be smelt by our plucky adventurers.
Sigune concentrates and begins her chanting, with Shield and hand outstretched, penetrating the darkness within and searching for any and all Evil.
Sigune: “There are no signs of Evil within this Crypt my friends. I also see that it is complete empty”
Our enthusiastic Heroes see that Crypt 35 is the last one to be checked in the SOUTHERN section of the Catacombs, this Crypt held the 5 Zombies that were held back bravely and singled handed by the fair Thora. The Crypt door is not sealed and previously housed Strahd Zombies. The slab is leaning against the wall and when the adventures turn it around they read the epitaph.
CRYPT 35:
No Epitaph
Inside the Crypt is empty.
Mirafir’s ‘Detect Magic’ had by now run out and our Heroes all agree to search the Tomb of Sergei von Zarovich for any trace of poor, young Gertruda. Inside they find the chamber must like they left it when Thora and Sigune charged in to confront Count Strahd von Zarovich. Our dashing Heroes begin a search of Sergei’s Tomb lead by Sir Ly.
Sir Ly: “They only place; apart from through Magical means, that Gertruda can be hidden from us is within Sergei’s Sarcophagus. Come Thora lend a hand and we shall remove the Marble Slab while the others cover our endeavour.”
Thora: “Aye, I will help.”
Frimly: “Virgin.”
Sigune: “Verging on what exactly Frimly, should we be ready for an attack?”
As our pious Paladin and Stout Fighter remove the marble slab and lying below, in the space once occupied by the Magic Armour now worn by Father Tobias, they find Gertruda.
Gertruda appears pale, dehydrated and disorientated, but safe none the less. Sir Ly bends down by the side of the Tomb of Sergei von Zarovich and begins to pray.
Sir Ly: “Saint Cuthbert hear my prayer, I have fulfilled my oath and have recovered the fair Gertruda. She will be returned to her mother and all shall be well again.”
Frimly: “Shouldn’t someone help her out and maybe give her one of the ‘Potions of Healing?”
Mirafir: “No wait, I have a cunning plan. We should extract Gertruda from her entombment and reviver her health with some of the miracle elixir recovered from the bodies of the Vistani Gypsies.”
Frimly: “May All the Gods give me STRENGTH to put up with this Wizard….”
Sigune: “I defiantly heard you that time Frimly. Which Gods do you mean, can I have a clue as I’m having a little bit of a problem remembering which ones there are.”
By my count boys and girls, CRYPT 2 and CRYPT 3 are yet to be investigated by our kind-hearted Heroes. While the Heroes must also go to CRYPT 12 as it too needs to be searched.
And there we leave our challenged Heroes for now. Until our next instalment, remember the word spoken by Oghma:
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
Oghma – The Lord of Knowledge – Faerûn
